I bought this watch with a GSC10 to use in an indoor cycling class. Although it works well (except for one issue, see below), the user’s manual, which is only available online, is nearly impossible to use. It takes multiple button pushes of multiple different buttons just to set the time and even more to really set the watch to show heart rate, time & cadence. Once I finally got it programmed, it worked fantastic, but I just can’t recommend this to anyone. It was too much of a hassle, especially given how expensive it is.
Small complaints:
If you’re not running a program, it resets to a default screen – the watch without seconds. Who doesn’t want to
be able to see seconds????
Doesn’t come with a user manual, so you either have to zoom back & forth through a pdf or print the whole sucker out.
If you don’t get the magnet quite right on the pedal, you’ll get 2X rpms. But it’s obvious that it’s off & pretty simple to divide by 2 on the glide.
Large complaints:
The user manual is beyond horrible.
If you update the watch software, you lose everything – not just the programs you’ve place in, but also the time/date.
It will not calculate calories if you’re using the cadence meter. If the meter isn’t on, calories-burned (assuming you’ve figured out how to program to see them) will show. If the cadence meter is transmitting to the watch, then calories show up as zero.
Excellent things
If you have figured out how to run the programming, then it’s possible to see heart rate, cadence, and time-elapsed while you’re taking an indoor cycling class. That’s pretty cool, but it doesn’t make up for the hassles.
